Leeds Trinity University Library is a dynamic and successful service, underpinned by a strong emphasis on supporting our users. This is an exciting moment to join our team, as we have recently implemented a new Library management system (Ex Libris Alma) and discovery service (Ex Libris Primo), with implementation of a service management system (Ivanti) and new library website scheduled to take place in the current academic year.
The User Services Team provides first line Library support to users and is responsible for service publicity and engagement. The Senior Information Assistant plays a key role in helping to ensure that these services function effectively.
Reporting to the Library User Services Managers, the successful candidate will assist in the smooth running and development of customer services, including the service management system. This includes acting as the first point of contact for Information Assistants when they need help with customer transactions.
You will assist in user engagement and publicity, including open days, freshers’ fair, internal marketing campaigns and competitions, and thematically based displays. You will play a key role in maintaining and developing the Library’s social media channels and library website content. You will also carry out general duties to include enquiry work, circulation duties, shelving and shelf tidying etc.
Applicants must have experience of working in a library/information service, of using a Library management system, and of providing first line support to users with enquiries. You should possess basic experience of using social media channels, and an ability to communicate effectively via a variety of media. Well-developed organisational skills, an ability to supervise staff on a day-to-day basis, and accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
The role is worked over four days per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during core weeks, and three days per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays during off peak weeks.
